MP Fadlallah: 2009 elections will proceed according to Doha Agreement
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 29-8-2008
Loyalty to the Resistance MP Hassan Fadlallah on Friday said that all parties should carry out their duties through the cabinet to face security challenges, which cannot be exploited for political benefit.
During an educational ceremony, Fadlallah said that all items of the Doha Agreement will be implemented, especially the electoral law, because all parliament members have announced their commitment to the electoral redistricting.
"Parliamentray elections will be held on time in 2009, and according to the electoral law we have agreed upon during the Doha Agreement, even though it will not be approved until September 25," he said.
He added that no Lebanese party had an interest in, or was capable of, delaying the electoral law's approval because postponement could lead to complications.
He noted that it was necessity to work with the cabinet in order to face economic and social problems and confirmed that Hizbullah would develop its role within the government in order to carry out its responsibilities, even though this cabinet will only last until the 2009 elections.
