Velayati: ‘Deal of Century’ a Media Show to Make Up for US Defeats

Imam Khamenei’s International Adviser, Ali Akbar Velayati, decried US President Donald Trump’s so-called ‘peace’ plan for the ‘Israeli’-Palestinian conflict as a “deceptive” media show aimed at compensating for US serial defeats throughout the region.
The deal of century “will never bear fruit” as Washington’s previous decisions to move the occupation entity’s embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied al-Quds and recognize the ‘Israeli’ sovereignty over the Golan Heights never delivered tangible results for Trump and Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution said in a statement on Thursday.
It came after Trump, during a joint presser with Netanyahu on Tuesday night, unveiled his long-delayed Middle East plan.
“What has happened is, in fact, a media show aimed at making up for the US’ defeats in the region and the world,” Velayati said in his statement.
He further said the plan will only enhance solidarity among Palestinian resistance groups, increase unity in the Islamic world and enhance support for the oppressed Palestinian nation among the world’s freedom- and justice-seeking people and the entire international community.
Stressing that Palestinians have every right to return to their motherland, Velayati said the Islamic Republic believes Palestinians can determine the future of Palestine only via a referendum.
He further warned of the repercussions of such a plan, including destabilizing the region and violating numerous UN resolutions on the Palestine cause.
