Palestinian resistance fighters fired Sunday well over 50 rockets and mortar shells on "Israeli" settlements and injured half a dozen settlers.
This comes a day after the "Israeli" occupation forces launched a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip. Although the main objective of the ground offensive is to control areas from where the Palestinian resistance is launching rockets, some 50 rockets were fired.
In the latest barrage, Palestinian fighters fired two Qassam rockets at the western Negev. One of the rockets landed in an open area near Sderot, while the other fell near a school in the Sha'ar Hanegev region. Earlier in the afternoon, a mortar shell landed in the Eshkol region, lightly wounding two people.
Earlier, six rockets struck Sderot, leaving one settler injured, another rocket hit a house in the western Negev town, leaving four suffering from "shock."
Two Qassam rockets fell in open areas near the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council. A Qassam rocket fired from the northern Gaza Strip landed in a settlers' living area in the Eshkol Regional Council Sunday.
One "Israeli" was wounded from shrapnel and evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. Three Qassam rockets also landed in the Sedot Negev Regional Council. Moreover, a Palestinian rocket hit Ashkol, two settlers were injured.
Twelve of the rockets were the longer-range Grad rockets, which fell without causing casualties near Ashdod, "Israel's" second-largest port, and settlements of Ofaqim and Netivod, the army said.
Palestinian resistance in Gaza have fired several hundred rockets and mortar rounds into "Israel" since the beginning of the "Israeli" massacre in the Gaza Strip on December 27, killing four people and wounding several dozens others.
A rocket fired on Saturday scored a direct hit on a house in Netivot, causing the structure to completely collapse. One settler was injured.
At least 31 rockets have been fired from Gaza into occupied territories on Saturday morning, when a barrage of Palestinian rockets directly hit an apartment building in Ashdod, wounding two "Israelis". Two more settlers were treated for shock.
A house in Askalan also suffered a direct hit, as three rockets rained down on the city Saturday morning. An additional strike was reported in Kiryat Malachi, the first such attack in the northern Negev city.
On Friday, two salvoes of Grad rockets struck Askalan, with a settlement in the southern city sustaining a direct hit. A settler in an adjacent house suffered wounds as a result of the strike. Five other "Israeli" "suffered shock" in the targeted building, according to "Israeli" media.
The second salvo included two Grad rockets: One hit an open area, and the other struck a residential area, hitting a vehicle and sparking a fire. Three more people suffered shock. Three additional rockets hit the Eshkol Regional Council, with one rocket exploding in a yard.
