Once again, the head of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc MP Michel Aoun expressed belief that the Resistance path will lead, backing the Palestinian Resistance against the Zionist criminality witnessed in the besieged strip.
Speaking to reporters following his weekly parliamentary bloc, Aoun announced that the Zionist entity would be defeated in Gaza. "The humanitarian situation in Gaza is painful but the resistance there is heroic," Aoun said, noting that "Israel" has not been able to achieve its goals.
"Gaza is destined to achieve victory in the confrontation with "Israel"," the General concluded, emphasizing that "Israel" will lose the war. Yet, Aoun criticized the so-called "Arab moderates," noting that they were attacking the resistance in Gaza.
Aoun stressed that the international community was a partner to "Israel" in its crimes, because of its confused positions. "Is UNICEF witnessing what is happening in Gaza? And where is the Geneva agreement, which protects civilians?" Aoun wondered.
The FPM leader pointed out that his movement's supporters were free to participate in any kind of protest against "Israeli" aggression in Gaza. "But my political speech is more powerful than any protest," he added.
Meanwhile, Lebanese officials renewed on Monday complete solidarity with Gaza against the aggression, calling on Palestinian factions to unite.
Prime Minister Fouad Saniora slammed the continuation of the "Israeli" aggression against the Gaza Strip, especially as "moving to a ground incursion indicates that "Israel" is going ahead with its plans of aggression, thereby flouting all international laws and norms, and instead of drawing lessons from the failed attempt to invade Lebanon, it commits the same mistakes and crimes against our brothers the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip."
Saniora called on the international community to bear its responsibilities, especially as instability in the region would affect the whole world. He also called for Arab and international action to bring about an immediate ceasefire and lift siege on the Gaza Strip, for the withdrawal of "Israel" from "the territories it occupied" and the initiation of talks under the auspices of the United Nations and the Arab League.
For his part, the head of the Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt said he was astonished at the "inaction and complicity" the international community had shown throughout increasingly violent "Israeli" attacks on the Gaza Strip. "Is it permissible for the UN Security Council, which is supposed to maintain world peace, to fail its duties of the defense of people exposed to genocide" he wrote, "rather than issue a binding decision for the immediate cessation of hostilities by "Israel"?"
Jumblatt also reiterated the importance of Palestinian unity "to face "Israeli" occupation" and the need for reunification efforts. "What is important is that there be no dependence of the views of external support, with money and arms," he wrote.
