Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Hanieh has pledged the Gazans victory against the "Israeli" occupation army saying that with the blood of the Palestinian martyrs will bring the victory very soon.
In a televised address on Monday, Hanieh said that Gaza is nearing victory, "We are approaching victory. The blood which has flowed will not have flowed in vain as it will bring us victory, thanks to God," Hanieh added on the 17th day of "Israeli" aggression against the Gaza Strip which has so far killed more than 900 Palestinians, including 280 children, and injured over 4100.
"I tell you that after 17 days of this foolish war, Gaza has not been broken and Gaza will not fall."
"The people who have lost their loved ones or whose homes have been destroyed are displaying unprecedented resilience, and the population is continually encouraging us despite the crazy and indiscriminant bombings."
Hanieh also said that the "blood of children" who have been martyred in the aggression would serve as a "curse which will come back to haunt (US President George W.) Bush."
Bush has consistently placed the blame for the aggression on Hamas, telling reporters on Monday that while he wanted to see a "sustainable ceasefire" in Gaza, it was up to Hamas to choose to end its rocket fire on the occupied territories.
Hanieh also said that Hamas was ready to "examine in a positive manner any initiative which can put an end to this aggression and the blood of our children being shed."
Hamas representatives are currently in Cairo to discuss an Egyptian initiative which calls for an immediate ceasefire and talks on opening Gaza's crossings and taking steps to prevent "arms smuggling".
Hanieh said any initiative must insist on "an immediate halt to aggression, the withdrawal of the Zionist forces from the Gaza Strip and the reopening of the border crossings and a total lifting of the siege" of the territory.
Hanieh added that simultaneous to the ceasefire talks the Palestinians would continue to fight "the occupying forces".
During the speech Hanieh cited several of verses from the Quran, and said "we trust Allah and know that he is by our side despite what people are trying to tell you to affect your spirits; I say that victory is close."
The Hamas Prime Minister offered his blessings to the Palestinian resistance fighters, saying "we embrace you and kiss your head and hands and the ground you walk on. You are the protectors of this nation's dignity and land. You are the makers of victory."
Hanieh concluded his speech with a prayer: "Allah, grant us victory over the infidels."
