United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Michael Williams visited former Prime Minister Omar Karami in Tripoli to discuss the situation in Lebanon.
Following the meeting on Friday, Williams emphasized "the necessity of joining forces to reinvigorate Tripoli... and to execute Tripoli's projects [so it can] play an effective role."

Karami assured Williams that the parliamentary elections would take place on schedule.
"Despite the bad electoral law and the political funding of campaigns, we hope that the elections will elect the people's true representatives," he said.
