Karami supports setting up an investigative committee that would look into wiretapping
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 3-2-2009
Former Prime Minister Omar Karami said that he supported the establishment of a parliamentary investigative committee that would look into wiretapping, adding that nothing illegal should happen in the cabinet without punishment.
In a statement on Tuesday, Karami said that he had not been informed that weapons were being distributed in the North, a reference to the March 14 alliance's claim that March 8 leaders were overseeing the provision of arms in parts of the country. He said the majority was spreading such rumors to obstruct the upcoming parliamentary elections because it feared its failure.
