Media and Telecommunications Commission is to hold a meeting on Thursday to continue its deliberations over the wiretapping issue. In addition to MPs, Interior Minister Ziad Baroud, Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar, Defense Minister Elias al-Murr, Telecommunications Minister Gebran Bassil and State Prosecutor Judge Said Mirza are to attend the meeting.

Head of the commission MP Hassan Fadlallah told An-Nahar daily on Tuesday that the meeting would be held separate from any political dispute, adding that the commission was carrying out its parliamentary role of supervising the cabinet to assure it implemented the law. "The issue will be taken seriously and will be discussed honestly and reasonably," he said.

Fadlallah said the meeting should be separated from any political divide, since all MPs were concerned with this matter and were subject to wiretapping, as were all the Lebanese, regardless of their political affiliations.

Fadlallah also said it was crucial not to transform Thursday's meeting into a political arena to score points. "We should resort to the law, and the outcome should be the implementation of the law," he said.
