Labor Minister Mohammad Fneish, in a political meeting in the Saddiqin area in South Lebanon on Sunday, rejected allegations that Hizbullah was responsible for preventing security services from carrying out their role in pursuing those who attempted to carry out terrorist acts. "We call for implementing Law 140 on wiretapping and respecting its mechanisms," he said.

"If this law was not sufficient, let the majority propose a new draft law and submit it to the parliament or cabinet. Let it be courageous and tell the people that they aim to provide security services with the authority to wiretap people's call," he said.

He questioned whether any services had the right to violate the law and invade people's privacy. He also expressed his hope that parliament would form an investigating commission and inform the public of the excesses that have taken place during this recent phase.
