Fadlallah: Lebanon has no choice but consensus
15-02-2009
Hizbullah MP Hassan Fadlallah stressed that "Lebanon can only be governed through partnership, consensus, and understanding."
"Some in Lebanon have tried to monopolize the government in a past period and what was the result? Consensus, partnership and understandings are the concepts upon which the governing of Lebanon should be based after the next elections, because Lebanon has no choice but consensus," he said.
In an event in the town of Jibsheet near the southern city of Nabatiyeh on Sunday, he said, "We run in the election only to win. The parties of the Lebanese national opposition will form unified lists of candidates for the upcoming elections but this does not mean that we do not recognize the other forces in the country or that we will be alone."
"The parliament will be governed by the majority but since when has this majority had its hand on all the country's resources?" he asked.
