Qassem: Hizbullah has no domestic enemies, majority-minority is not applicable in Lebanon
Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said that his party had no domestic enemies.
"Our only enemy is ‘Israel'," and Hizbullah would confront anyone who chose to be a tool in ‘Israel's' hands, he said.
During a celebratory event introducing Hizbullah's electoral campaign staff in Beirut, Baabda and Aley districts on Wednesday, he also said that the concept of majority/minority government was inappropriate in Lebanon, and that bridges of cooperation should be created whether or not a unity cabinet was established.
Qassem said that Hizbullah's campaign would not include distribution of posters of its candidates, and that its electoral program was inseparable from its political vision.
Hizbullah's political vision, he explained, was based on the establishment of a strong, fair and independent state under the rule of law, a state that protected itself without any foreign guardianship, and a government that united the largest number of Lebanese factions under a consensus democracy.
On Monday, Hizbullah had mentioned that it may have anti-aircraft weaponry and has the right to use them. Qassem said that some have attempted to scare the Lebanese people by referring to this comment, but that this attempt failed because most of the people supported the Resistance's right to hold weapons.
Qassem said that a European official told him that if March 8 won the elections then they would have to accept the de facto situation.
He also said that Hizbullah had not yet chosen its candidates for the coming parliamentary election.
