Marada Movement leader Suleiman Franjieh said that if the opposition wins the 2009 parliamentary elections the cabinet would not work without the participation of the Future Movement, the Progressive Socialist Party or Tashnaq. "If we all participate, things will work out because each one of us is capable of obstructing the country in a way and anyone who refuses to participate would be contributing to a crime against the country," he said.

During an annual dinner for the Marada Movement in Koura on Saturday, Franjieh stressed the importance of the opposition's unity in order to win the upcoming elections. He said that the opposition had one political language, unlike the March 14 alliance in which each faction had its own beliefs.

Franjieh said he did not believe that a Future movement supporter could reach an understanding with another from the Lebanese Forces. The former believes more or less in Arabism while the latter believes in a Christian state and in partition, he said.
Franjieh said that the opposition allies had the same beliefs whether from the Free Patriotic Movement or the Syrian Social Nationalist Party or Hizbullah or Amal. "We speak in politics away from religion. Each has his own religion and faith; however, in politics we meet," he said, noting that Lebanon needed its citizens to meet.
