Sheikh Qassem: Despite all pressure, Resistance succeeded in repelling "Israeli" aggression in July 2006

Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem on Monday said electoral competition in Lebanon was indication of the atmosphere of freedom.

"Despite all pressure on the Resistance, the army and the people to amend their choices according to the new American project in the Middle East, the Resistance succeeded in repelling the ‘Israeli' aggression in July 2006, and this great divine victory God prevented the neo-colonial project and ruled out US trusteeship," Sheikh Qassem said.

Qassem called for "attention to production" in Lebanon, which would have positive repercussions on employment opportunities and people's incomes.

During a meeting with a jewelers' association, Qassem said a successful economy was a "fundamental pillar of independence and development."
