Sheikh Qaouk: Resistance would win 2009 elections despite the monetary invasion
23-02-2009
Hizbullah official in South Lebanon Sheikh Nabil Qaouk said that the Resistance would win the upcoming parliamentary elections despite the monetary invasion, a reference to March 14 payments to voters, the same way it won the "military invasion" during the 2006 July War and the "political invasion" in 2008.
He said that Benjamin Netanyahu's appointment as ‘Israel's' new prime minister should push Lebanon "to strengthen its national consensus and the national unity cabinet."
During a meeting with the women of Hizbullah's electoral campaign staff in Tyre on Monday, Qaouk accused the March 14 alliance of instigating crises, starting with delaying the 2006 July War compensations up to its attempting to dissolve the Council of the South and to postpone and lower its budget.
Qaouk criticized the "international and Arab money" given to support the (so-called) majority, who he said intended to weaken the opposition in the elections, especially "since the opposition deprived the US and its followers in the region of achieving their project or political gain."
Qaouk also said that Hizbullah's slogan in the elections was that Resistance supporters knew what "Israel" wanted, and they would vote to prevent the Zionist State from attaining its goals. This would lead to the achievement of political victory, which he said would strengthen national unity and partnership.
