UN: Hizbullah not involved in rocket attacks

The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has confirmed that Hizbullah was not involved in recent rocket-launchings from South Lebanon into northern ‘Israel'.

Speaking to the press on Monday at the UN headquarters in New York, Under Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Alain Le Roy confirmed that, based on UNIFIL investigations, Hizbullah had nothing to do with the rocket-launching incidents from South Lebanon into northern ‘Israel' over the past few months.

Le Roy added that UNIFIL was responsible for pursuing those behind the incidents within its operations area and conducting investigations with the cooperation of the Lebanese authorities and army.

"I do not think that we are cooperating with Hizbullah, but we are happy that the party denied any involvement and condemned" the attacks, he said.
