Fadlallah: Judicial appointments shook judiciary΄s credibility, U.S. Admin is enemy΄s partner
Source: Hizbollah Staff, 10-03-2009
According to MP Hassan Fadlallah, member of Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, "there is a need to distance the judiciary from political partisanship and internal divisions between the different sides, in order to perform its role in implementing the law and protecting people's rights."
MP Fadlallah indicated that "the judicial appointments were highly politicized, and subjected to political interferences rather than to standards of competence, integrity and law abidance. It is evident that the timing and appointment criteria are political; a step such as this, is not supposed to have been taken, as it inflames political division, breaches the balance within the judicial body and shakes its credibility."
"Upholding the constitution and safeguarding stability presupposes that steps that would breach these principals would not be taken, as it could bring back problems, the Lebanese can do without."
He added: "We will be more scrutinizing of these standards when we begin to study the administrative appointments in Cabinet.
Meanwhile, we are open to holding objective and serious debate for quickly accomplishing these appointments, but within the set out constitutional and legal frameworks, without nepotism or abandonment of the powers decreed by the Constitution "
MP Fadlallah also called for benefiting in Lebanon from reconciliations occurring among Arab countries, "We match all rhetoric that calls for calm and for moving away from tension with a similar language."
