In an interview with the Saudi newspaper Okaz on Monday, Vice President of the Higher Shiaa Islamic Council Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan said Wednesday's Riyadh Summit was a historic event, which he said would pave the way for a comprehensive Arab reconciliation.

He called for maintaining efforts to repair relations among different Arab countries and to reduce tensions.

Qabalan added the upcoming parliamentary elections were not critical, but said they were important on the national level so as to build a strong society.
