At ceremony in Aley, Minister of Youth and Sports Talal Areslan said that Lebanon could not be governed without consensus, regardless of the results of the upcoming parliamentary elections. He added that he "will not allow the establishment of an authority that wants to strip the nation of the Resistance, the liberation and defense power, and that ignores the need to strengthen the Lebanese army to confront "Israel"."
Areslan warned against "falling into the trap" of deceit, which he said always manifested itself during the parliamentary elections, especially in the absence of the Constitutional Council and with the politicization of judicial authorities.
Areslan said he was counting on the Lebanese's determination to raise electoral competition to new civilized heights and called on Interior Minister Ziad Baroud to resolve all gaps pertaining to the elections without delay.
