Raad: Majority-Minority Game Works under National Ceiling
The head of the Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Mohammad Raad said on Sunday that the political game of a parliamentary majority and minority benefits Lebanon under a national ceiling of consensus.
"Who said that the procedural measures that run the country and the interests of its citizens are not dependent on the concept of a parliamentary majority and minority? However, this majority will not come and say at a later time following its election we have no choice but to settle with ‘Israel'; that the resistance has no more meaning... This would be a coup against national choices," Raad said at a religious gathering.
"The form of democracy that was agreed to at the Taif accord comes following the consensus that was agreed to by the parliamentary majority and minority on a single national choice," Raad emphasized. "If they differ among themselves then they do over the details only," he added.
The Hizbullah MP emphasized that if the national choice was toppled by the parliamentary majority, "this would return us to a civil war that the Taef accord worked on ending."
