An "Israeli" airstrike targeting the Fatima Bint Asad School, which was sheltering displaced families in Jabalia al-Balad, in northern Gaza, claimed at least 10 people's lives, including several women and children, and injured dozens, in the early hours of Monday.

Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmud Bassal announced that at least 10 martyrs including several women and children, as well as dozens of wounded, were transported following an "Israeli" airstrike on the Fatima Bint Asad school, which is home to more than 2,000 displaced people in the city of Jabalia.

Later, reports indicated that the number of martyrs in the massacre has risen to 16.

The massacre came just hours after US President Donald Trump hailed Hamas' announcement of its intention to release the American-"Israeli" captive in Gaza, Edan Alexander, as a "good faith gesture," expressing hope for an end to the "brutal conflict" in Gaza.

The "Israeli" occupation forces [IOF] bombed the school multiple times, an attack that reportedly claimed the lives of several displaced individuals sheltering there and left others injured."

In addition, one Palestinian was martyred and others were wounded, including children, when an "Israeli" airstrike targeted a gathering of civilians in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, west of Gaza City.

"Israeli" warplanes reportedly bombed a house in the al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

Additionally, the IOF demolished residential homes in the eastern part of the al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City.

However, Netanyahu said in a statement released by his office, "Negotiations for a possible deal to secure the release of all captives would continue "under fire, during preparations for an intensification of the fighting."
