At least 27 Palestinians have been martyred and dozens more wounded after airstrikes by “Israeli” warplanes targeted eight residential homes across the city of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza alone, local health authorities reported.

The attacks were part of a broader wave of bombardments across the Gaza Strip overnight and into Wednesday, marking one of the most intense assaults in recent weeks.

Multiple air raids struck the towns of Khuza’a and Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis, while artillery shelling and heavy gunfire were reported in the same areas. “Israeli” helicopters also fired on residential buildings in Gaza City, including a strike on a flat in the al-Nasr neighborhood that claimed at least three lives.

The escalation extended to the western Khan Yunis area of al-Mawasi, where airstrikes targeted shelters for displaced persons, claiming at least one life and injuring others. The area endured repeated bombardments throughout the day, including a fresh wave of air raids shortly after midday.

Medical sources at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis reported receiving a large number of wounded children following strikes on residential neighborhoods across the city. Homes belonging to the Laham, Zaytouni, Bayouk, Kaware’, and Abu Taimeh families, as well as properties near the Golden Mall and the Islamic University, were among those struck.

In central Gaza, two people were martyred and others wounded when “Israeli” jets bombed a home in Deir al-Balah. Additional martyrs were reported after a strike on the Nabahin family home in the nearby al-Barouk area.

In northern Gaza, five people were martyred in an “Israeli” strike on the Shihab family home in Jabalia al-Balad. Several other homes were hit in the same district, including one near Halabi Square. In the town of Beit Lahia, rescuers pulled eleven people from the rubble of a home in the al-Salatin area, while additional strikes hit the town’s western and northern outskirts.

Gaza City also came under heavy fire. Apart from the deadly strike in al-Nasr, “Israeli” warplanes bombed a residential apartment in the al-Shati refugee camp and launched further raids on the city’s northwestern edges.

Overall, “Israeli” aircraft conducted at least eight airstrikes on the al-Sanati area east of Abasan al-Kabira. Artillery also targeted northern areas of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

The relentless bombardment worsens an already dire humanitarian crisis, with Gaza’s health system on the verge of collapse and thousands of families displaced from their homes. Local rescue teams continue to work under extreme conditions, searching for survivors beneath the rubble of targeted homes.
