US President Donald Trump has leveled serious accusations against senior advisors to his predecessor Joe Biden, claiming they committed “treason at the highest level” by exploiting Biden’s cognitive decline to implement policies he never supported.

In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump argued that Biden was not responsible for the surge in illegal immigration and that staffers essentially hijacked presidential power by controlling the autopen—a device used to replicate a person’s signature.

Trump asserted that Biden had never supported open borders, pointing to the president’s past record. “The Joe Biden that everybody knew would never allow drug dealers, gang members, and the mentally insane to come into our country totally unchecked and unvetted,” Trump wrote, blaming the resulting immigration crisis for costing the US “hundreds of billions of dollars.”

According to Trump, “It wasn’t his idea to open the border… It was the people that knew he was cognitively impaired, and that took over the autopen.” He called their actions “TREASON at the highest level,” and suggested that “something very severe should happen to these treasonous thugs.”

These statements come amid renewed public scrutiny of Biden’s health, after the announcement that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, with a Gleason score of 9 and evidence of metastasis to the bone.

While Trump publicly wished Biden well, he also questioned the transparency of the diagnosis timeline, suggesting the condition must have developed over several years and that the public had not been properly informed.

Trump also implied that the autopen had become a tool of deception. “It seems that maybe it was the president—whoever operated the autopen,” he said, raising suspicions about whether White House doctors missed signs of Biden’s cognitive impairment.

Trump previously raised doubts about the legitimacy of presidential actions carried out via autopen, including pardons he claimed were issued without Biden’s awareness. While legal scholars affirm that the autopen has been lawfully used by past presidents when properly authorized, Trump argues that in Biden’s case, it may have been misused by aides acting independently.

In response to these concerns, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer has launched an investigation into whether senior Biden advisors covered up signs of the president’s cognitive decline and improperly used the autopen to enact decisions on his behalf.
