Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali said in an interview with the Qatari newspaper Al-Arab on Wednesday that he was optimistic about future relations between Beirut and Damascus.
He said bilateral relations were on the right track and said he hoped they would "be at the level of our ambitions."

He also said that Syria supported Lebanon's stability, adding that the relations would be based on both countries' interests.
"History and geography between Beirut and Damascus urge them to forge extraordinary relations in different sectors," he concluded.
