Franjieh: In case it emerged victorious, Opposition would reveal the truth-catastrophe about the economic situation
Source: Hizbollah Staff, 28\3\2009
Marada Movement leader Suleiman Franjieh said that if the opposition alliance governed it would do so "honestly". According to Franjieh, the opposition would reveal the truth about the economic situation to all Lebanese "because it does not and it will never lie to anyone and the Lebanese people will see the catastrophe we are currently in."
During a dinner hosted by Marada Movement-affiliated teachers on Saturday, Franjieh said the national debt increased by between $5 and 6 million a year, while at the same time "they are saying the country is fine, that economic growth is good and the country is in a very good situation."
"This exists nowhere in the world except in Prime Minister Fouad Saniora's book," he said.
Franjieh said that more than half of the money granted by the Paris III conference was wasted in order to serve the national debt and only a few projects had been implemented. "Those implemented served their electoral interests," he said.
Franjieh called on every citizen not to "sell his conscience" in the elections. He added that the only debt he had was in people's confidence in him, which made him capable "of keeping his head up high and only bowing before God."
Franjieh said the state's duty was to "seriously" regard the requests of teachers and others in of the public sector, because their demands were just.
