Aoun: Don΄t Allow Anyone from March 14 to Return to Parliament!
Source: Al-Manar TV, 30-3-2009
The head of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc MP Michel Aoun said on Monday that his party and allies have given up on the current parliamentary majority representing the March 14 bloc. He called on Lebanon not to allow the return of anyone from the mentioned bloc to the parliament following the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Speaking to reporters following his bloc's weekly meeting, Aoun said that the Lebanese people were frustrated with the current majority, because of their unclear positions. "The current ruling system and the current majority should be changed," he stressed. "I feel disgust toward one thing in Lebanon, the current majority," he pointed out.
The General, meanwhile, reiterated that Deputy Prime Minister Issam Abu Jamra was a strong man who could represent the Lebanese capital. "Abu Jamra represents all the Orthodox community in the government because he is the deputy prime minister," Aoun recalled, adding that Abu Jamra occupies a public position which represents all Lebanese regions and this is why he is running in Beirut.
The FPM leader also said that he asked Nayla Tueini not to run in the elections, because of her lack of political experience and her weak position. "If she doesn't want to take our advice into consideration, it is her decision," he said. "When she wants to remember her father she should remember all of his positions," he added.
