Hoss criticizes Doha Summit results, deems unsatisfactory
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 1-4-2009
Former Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss said that the Lebanese position at the Doha Arab Summit was "correct and expressed not only the national one and the Lebanese people's attitude, but also the Arab stance."
Following a meeting with President Michel Suleiman in Baabda on Wednesday, Hoss said that the "Arab Summit did not achieve what was expected of it. The Arab leaders should have taken far more important decisions than what they already have...the final statement did not point to the Palestinians' right to return to their homeland."
The former prime minister added, "The right to return was mentioned clearly in the Arab Peace Initiative. We insist on it, and we consider it the essence of the Palestinian cause, because the cause is more about the Palestinian people than it is about Palestinian lands."
