Speaker Nabih Berri spoke on Saturday in Qana at the Amal Movement organized anniversary of the 1996 Qana Massacre, saying that "the Resistance is devoted to the security and interests of the Arab nation and Egypt." He also called for the launch of a dialogue aimed at reconciling disputes between Egypt and other Arab countries, stressing that the resistance would never plan for attacks in Egypt.

Berri also spoke about last week's arrest of Hizbullah operative Sami Chehab in Egypt, explaining that, "The arrest of a Hizbullah cell in the Sinai Peninsula is a result of difference in points of views. One party views Gaza as a threat to the Egyptian regime, while the other party views Gaza as a base for resistance." He emphasized that the Resistance has no plans to hit any strategic or tourist sites in Egypt, which they have been accused of by Egyptian authorities.

Turning to ‘Israel', Berri said the Lebanese know that their sole enemy is the Jewish state which invaded their country and committed massacres in it.

He said that Arabs have to be prepared for any eventuality because the newly formed ‘Israeli' government is not encouraging. Berri said that the "Netanyahu cabinet is trying to shift attention from the Palestinian file to the Iranian nuclear file." He also said that the new Israeli cabinet is planning to displace Palestinians to Jordan and Lebanon.

Berri stated that the 1996 Qana Massacre "ended the turning of a blind eye to the war crimes and terrorist acts of ‘Israel'." He concluded that Lebanon should submit complaints to the United Nations over ‘Israeli' violations of international law.
