"Israeli" occupation soldiers stationed at the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Al-Khalil shot and killed a Palestinian man who approached a guard post. Border Guard Commander Y"Israel" Yitzhak praised the soldiers' conduct and said they had responded professionally in neutralizing a suspect. He said they had acted according to the "Israeli" army regulations. The "Israeli" occupation said that one soldiers was injured without clarifying how. According to Palestinian sources, the man was mentally retarded and his family said it had documents that prove his condition.

Meanwhile, an "Israeli" soldier was killed during what the army claimed were clashes with Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, "but it was unclear whether the death was a result of friendly fire," an occupation army spokesman said.

The incident took place when troops entered the village of Bir Zeit north of the town of Ramallah to arrest wanted Palestinians, sparking a clash with local residents, the spokesman added.
The soldier was shot during heavy clashes, he claimed, refusing to say whether the bullet was fired by a Palestinian or an "Israeli".
