A Hizbullah delegation of religious scholars continued on a tour of visits to the spiritual reference authorities of the Druze sect in Lebanon in the framework of cementing the opening in relations between the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) and Hizbullah.

Headed by the Representative of the Religious Authority, Hizbullah Shoura (Consultative) Council member, His Eminence Sheikh Mohammad Yazbek today visited Sheikh al-Akl (Reason) of the monotheist Druze confession Sheikh Naim Hassan at the Druze community centre in Verdun, in the presence of a number of judges and religious council members of the sect and Druze elders.

Sheikh Hassan welcomed the delegation asking "God Almighty for the invested efforts to contribute in narrowing and bridging the gap between the two sides."
He said after the meeting that: "National unity remains a want above all considerations" hoping that "A chapter of past differences had gone to no return."

Sheikh al-Akl praised the meeting that brought "Hizbullah" Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and MP Walid Jumblatt together, saying "it paves the way for a new phase of cooperation, credibility and transparency, inevitably positively impacting the nation as a whole."

He added that "Resistance is generated in the hearts of the Monotheists (Druze), and in any field where there is confrontation against occupation and invaders to preserve the sanctities. We hope the Islamic resistance with its victorious achievement -nations failed to achieve- can become a model to be emulated in weaving the fabric of relations between all Islamic countries."

For his part, Sheikh Yazbek said: "We thank God the Exalted on the success of reaching this house, filled with hope by its Monotheist people. God has favored this meeting for it manifested between us and His Eminence Sheikh al-Akl, to exchange blessings and deliberate conversations of concern to us all."

In the private session, the visions expressed were equally uniform, the main concern being the homeland and the unity of the people.
There was emphasis on working together to have everyone's voice joined in a united speech, to meet our people of Lebanon in their various sects and confessions, to get together in spiritual, political and social meetings.

In response to a question on the performance of the Prime Minister-Designate Saad Hariri, Sheikh Yazbek said: "So far it includes points of high performance, we ask God Almighty to grant him success in forming a government of national unity."
He was asked: Can this visit be extended to include other confessions? He responded: "God willing, yes."

Asked about MP Walid Jumblatt's recent stands, he said: "We believe that these stands are good and worthwhile. We sense his concern for the unity of Lebanon and its components, therefore this meeting acts as a translation of that meeting which took place between MP Walid Jumblatt and His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and God willing, this openness will extend to include all the Lebanese."

On a visit to Damascus by MP Jumblatt, he said: "MP Walid Jumblatt determined that he would visit when all obstacles are removed from the path. We know that MP Walid Jumblatt looks through his nationalist and Arab vision which he insists upon, and he will meet with all holders of such a vision in Damascus and elsewhere."

Sheikh Nassereddine

The delegation went on to visit Sheikh Nassereddine at his home in Kfar-Matta, where a crowded reception was attended by Minister Talal Areslan's representative, the Interior Director of the Lebanese Democratic Party Mr. Liwa'a Jaber, Sheikh Mustafa Hussein al-Sayegh as well as a gathering of Druze sheikhs.

After the meeting Sheikh Yazbek said: "You have proved the right and unified vision, through maintaining a single unified trench for both leaders Talal Areslan and Walid Jumblatt. This unity infuses hope and a forward looking to the future. We admire this solidarity, unity and correctness of this vision for the unification of the Mountain, thus becoming a springboard for the unity of all of Lebanon and the Lebanese. Therefore, we come to affirm this unity, so that through it we can embark together with you, so that all become united."

He added: "We have come to consolidate the identity that unites us, it is this homeland, under whose roof we all take shelter, we are all in support of the strong and capable state that preserves our security, independence and pride, because such a state is of us and we are of it."

Sheikh al-Gharib

Sheikh al-Gharib welcomed the delegation, and said: "Much unites us and that which creates distance between us is non-existent. The first thing that unites us is this homeland, Lebanon, the dear homeland where we all shelter, Christians and Muslims, under the shades of its eternal cedars."

"What also unites us is the common defense of the homeland, where the resistance is a basis along side the National Lebanese Army."

He further added "We say to Benjamin Netanyahu, we are all resistance for the sake of Lebanon, and not just the national and Islamic resistance, all the people of Lebanon hope and wish to defend each grain of soil in this country."

Sheikh al-Gharib asked: "Is it conceivable for the Ambassador of a foreign state to attend the graduation of a group of internal security personnel in Lebanon? Such acts did not even take place during the mandate period over Lebanon, why allow it today?"
