Sheikh Qassem: Awaiting Hariri consultations to conclude before giving our answers
Hizbollah Site Staff, 10-07-2009
The Deputy Secretary General of Hizbullah Sheikh Naim Qassem, indicated that the elections brought forward a delicate political balance in Lebanon, because the opposition nearly gained half of the House's seats, and 'March 14' only a few seats more than half. Thus, His Eminence considered that each side has to pay close attention as to how to go about work, taking into account that none can build the country alone nor monopolise authority or deny others their roles, strength, presence and popularity.
While he confirmed "As opposition we are content with our position politically and at popular levels, and with all the steps that may come up in the future."
Sheikh Qassem said "We expect the PM-designate Saad Hariri tasked with forming the government to complete his consultations and inform us what he can do, as only then can we can give our final answers. This is because our basis is to work as partners while presenting the design that strengthens partnership is his responsibility."
He said: "We have done our duty so far and we are prepared to join a national unity government. We have been completely positive regarding emphasizing the basis of the political process in Lebanon, its resistance position, being 'Israel's' enemy, and that Lebanon refuses to be under any foreign tutelage."
His Eminence added: "We welcomed the inter-Arab understanding, which we consider as important and positive for Lebanon, whether this understanding is given the name Syria-Saudi Arabian, Syria-Egyptian, or even Arab-International."
