Wahhab praises Jumblatt, Hariri after disagreement
Source: nowlebanon.com, 14-07-2009
Tawhid Movement leader Wiam Wahhab told LBC television on Tuesday that his disagreement with Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt was "political" and not personal, adding that Jumblatt had since reconsidered his stances toward the Resistance, Syria and several issues in the Mountain.
This comes after the PSP leader softened his political rhetoric toward the opposition during the countdown to the 2009 parliamentary elections.
Wahhab met with Jumblatt on Monday night and said that the PSP and Tawhid will issue a joint statement on their meeting.
However, the Tawhid leader said that the two men discussed the report published in the German magazine Der Spiegel, which accused Hizbullah of being responsible for the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, and emphasized how dangerous it is.
"We should turn a new page. Saad Hariri is Lebanon's prime minister, not only the leader of the Future Movement," Wahhab said.
He called for forming the new government as soon as possible, saying that "the road is open for Hariri and Jumblatt to visit Damascus."
