Sheikh Qabalan: We want a government that serves people, not other way around
Source: lebanonnow.com, 23-07-2009
Vice President of the Higher Shiaa Islamic Council Sheikh Abdel Amir Qabalan on Wednesday said, "We want a government which serves people, not the other way around," adding that the members should be chosen "upon merit and experience."
He also said that politicians have to remove all obstacles facing the government formation because the Lebanese should be able to live in peace and security, under a national-unity government.
Qabalan lauded security forces for their effort in discovering and arresting on Tuesday 10 people suspected of being involved in a terrorist organization, reportedly plotting an attack against UNIFIL and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).
"These networks are an expansion of the terrorism movements in Iraq and Pakistan, and they should be stopped," he said.
