Fadlallah: Government formation mechanisms in Lebanon are underway, our goal is its prompt formation
Hizbollah Site Staff, 24-07-2009
Member of Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, Lebanese MP Hassan Fadlallah stressed that "The opposition is coherent and unified, even if it uses varied rhetoric styles in describing its stand", he said "We are in agreement on the ceiling level of participation in government, our preference and aim is for a government to be formed as soon as possible without 'burning the meal'."
He pointed out that "government formation mechanisms are being fulfilled in Lebanon," saying that "Regional contacts, particularly Saudi-Syrian rapprochement will positively reflect on Lebanon", and pointed out that "The calm in the region was reflected as political calm in Lebanon."
On the subject of the obstructing third, and the talk by some about it being unconstitutional, Fadlallah pointed out that "The Constitution does not contain clear text that legislates or prevents this issue," and added saying that "Today all the demands are on the table from the obstructing third to relative representation to the Republic's President having a number of Ministers of his choosing in the Cabinet, etc..., these are all political demands that cannot be considered unconstitutional."
