Jumblatt: Alliance with “March 14” was a Necessity and Must Be Terminated

...And once again, the head of the "Democratic Gathering" MP Walid Jumblatt turns on his "temporary necessary alliance" and "alliances of yesterday" and launches a severe attack against the so-called "March 14" saying that the alliance with this bloc was driven by an urgent necessity yet it must not continue.

During his speech at the opening of the General Assembly of the Progressive Socialist Party's conference (PSP), held at the "Beau Rivage" Hotel in Beirut, Jumblatt considered that the latest parliamentary elections produced a sectarian outcome that we must get rid of. While he was expressing his surprise of what was said that his team has won these elections, Jumblatt said, "We win when we give the laborers their rights, we win when we get out of the right."

The head of the Democratic Gathering pointed out that his team did not engage in a political battle however it was a sectarian battle. "Our whole battle was based on the denial of the other from sectarian, tribal and political perspective."

Describing his visit to Washington as "the black spot", Jumblatt said, "We have gone so far when we met with the neo-conservative in the United States in order to protect the Cedar Revolution, and this meeting was not within the historical context of the PSP."

Concerning the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, Jumblatt hoped that the truth would come out to be an address for stability and not chaos calling for distinguished relations with Syria.
