Sheikh Qassem Hails Jumblatts Statements as Important
Source: almanar.com.lb, 05-08-2009
Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem expressed on Tuesday the opposition's satisfaction with the newly reached ministerial formula, stressing that the upcoming government is not a "majority" or "minority" one but, instead, a "national unity" government.
Speaking during a cultural ceremony organized by Hizbullah in Beirut's southern suburb, Sheikh Qassem said that the reached formula constitutes a "creative formula" that contributes in protecting and safeguarding the parliamentary minority in case sensitive topics are raised within the government, especially those that need the two-thirds majority.
Sheikh Qassem pointed out that the national-unity government strengthens the importance of the Lebanese unity and general consensus. His eminence highlighted the fact that the general picture of the government was already completed, adding that all what remained was distributing the portfolios and agreeing on the names, denying all claims that the latest statements made by the head of the Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt would have any influence on the cabinet formation process.
Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General hailed Jumblatt's latest statements as important, saying that his party was looking positively to the mentioned statements. His eminence rejected claims that such statements would obstruct the government formation process and stressed that, at the opposite, they would facilitate reaching the "happy ending."
