Deputy Secretary-General of Hizbullah His Eminence Sheikh Naim Qassem received a delegation from the Islamic Sects Rapprochement Association in Iran in the presence of a representative from the Islamic Sects Rapprochement Association in Lebanon, Sheikh Hassan Baghdadi and the Islamic Republic embassy charge d'affaires in Beirut, Mr. Hosseinian.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Sheikh Hassan Baghdadi, said that the delegation's visit to Lebanon at this time is to congratulate the leadership of the Islamic Resistance and the Lebanese on the resounding victory achieved on August 14th 2006, in contrast with the harsh defeat this enemy was inflicted with, which turned into a unifying title for Muslim unity that can be replicated in the Arab and Muslim worlds.

Then His Eminence, Sheikh Naim Qassem spoke, the following is some of what he said:

We see the Hizbullah experience in Lebanon has given a shining title, loved by and harmonious with the people, one which extends its hand to everyone, does not distinguish between Sunnis and Shiaas, even among all the citizens on the basis that what is required is to live together without provoking one another.

Hence, we have been advocates of Islamic unity between Sunnis and Shiaas, as an application of the blessed verse says "And hold fast, all together, by the rope which God (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves;" [3:103 Holy Koran], so that we can face existing challenges and difficulties. Thus, Hizbullah's resistance was able to take its role and status.

"Israel" is the enemy, it is the enemy of all Muslims, America is the aggressor against all Muslims. Hence, there are many issues round which we can stand united on a practical level. We need not bother ourselves with theories of unity. We just need to see what each and every one of us can actually do? When we stand in the arena, we all practically work for the liberation of the Holy Land, extend a hand to our brothers and cooperate with them, and together we face the American project.
