A force from the Lebanese Army Intelligence Unit raided a newly-established garbage separation plant Wednesday evening, located on the outskirts of the coastal city of Sidon, after employees reported that the new machines and equipment were made in "Israel".

Well-informed security sources reported that the plant's staff had discovered all the imported machines and equipment had the "Made in Israel" label either inscribed or tagged.

The sources added that the plant was still unsure whether its board of administrators was aware that the machines were directly imported from "Israel" or whether they fell victim to foreign suppliers.

Lebanon considers itself at war with "Israel" and any kind of contact with the country is illegal.
The sources said it raises "big questions" about how the machines were allowed inside Lebanese territories.

Employees of the plant said the "Israeli" machines and equipment were placed inside "heavily sealed" wooden containers.

While the media were not allowed inside the plant after news about the "Israeli" equipments spread, the employees were able to provide reporters with pictures of machines bearing the "Made in Israel" tags.

According to the plant's staff, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the "Israeli" machines should have been used to refine waste water resulting from the separation of trash.

The coastal city of Sidon faces a serious waste management problem after its seaside dump got saturated with garbage. Tons of waste from dump makes its way to the Mediterranean Sea with each storm.
