Fadlallah: The binding corridor to forming the unity government is consensus & dialogue
Hizbollah Site Staff, 10-09-2009
Member of Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah considered the binding corridor through which the government of unity, partnership is to be formed is understanding, consensus and dialogue. There is no possibility of imposing any formula, names or portfolios, nor is it possible for the partnership government to be produced except on the basis of understanding and accord. This is a key axiom in the country".
MP Fadlallah called on some in Lebanon to reassess their calculations away from any gambles on external developments and away from any external attempts to dictate positions related to government formation. Alternatively, we want for the government to be formed here in Lebanon, to benefit from advantageous regional atmospheres. We do not want anyone to mortgage their position to external suggestions regardless of where these suggestions come from".
He added: "Things are not locked and are still open to discussion and dialogue, but the principle of parachuting a government down on the Lebanese is rejected. A government can not be imposed on the political forces, as there are just demands to be taken into account. We, as opposition forces, are engaged in dialogue and discussion with the concerned sides in order to arrive at a solution. If things remain as they are on this course, it means we are not approaching a national unity or partnership government".
Fadlallah concluded: "If such government cannot be formed in Lebanon, could a unilateral government of exclusivity and monopoly be formed instead? This is something of the past, no one in Lebanon is to imagine that a single color or one sided government can be formed. This has become something of the past. We try to achieve the partnership and unity government we want, as I said through understanding and accord.
