Hamas: Al-Aqsa violence a product of New York summit
Hamas urged the Palestinian Authority to immediately stop negotiations with "Israel" in protest of the violence at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Al Quds (Jerusalem) on Sunday.
Hamas leader Mushir said that clashes were "the fruit of the three-way meeting that was held in Washington between [Palestinian President] Abbas, [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and [US President Barack] Obama."
Hamas staged demonstrations in Gaza City and Khan Younis in protest of the violence. Dozens were injured in clashes that took place earlier after right-wing religious Jews reportedly entered the Al-Aqsa compound ahead of the Jewish Holy Day of Yom Kippur. Israeli border guards used stun grenades and batons to attack stone-throwing protesters inside the compound.
