Jumblatt Criticizes UN Double Standards regarding Nukes
The head of the Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt strongly criticized on Monday the United Nations' double standard regarding the nuclear arms proliferation.
"The last Resolution 1887 issued by the UN should have looked to all parties possessing nuclear armament without discrimination and double standards as it accuses Iran while ignores "Israel" and other countries depending on their proximity or distance from the US," Jumblatt said.
The Progressive Socialist Party's leader said that the nuclear file "demands a comprehensive approach according to common and unifying standards", however, he added "probably the actual international balance of powers would not provide this luxury to the Third World."
Condemning "Israel's" Zionist and discriminative ideology vis-à-vis the Palestinian people throughout history as well as its maneuverings, Jumblat underscored the fact that "after the U.S. failed in freezing the settlements construction, "Israel" is pressurizing the International Community, the U.N. the Palestinian Authority and the Arabs to recognize the Jewish state."
Hence, the Druze leader warned against the endangerments that would follow such as "implementing new waves of Palestinian exudes and emptying historical Palestine from both Palestinians and Arabs."
Given that, Jumblatt deplored the ongoing Palestinian reality that is "divided and scattered to the maximum, regressing day after day without being able to achieve any noticeable progress against an enemy that persists in its stubbornness, refusing a minimal freezing of the settlements."
