The awaited "ambiguous" visit of the Saudi King that has occupied media outlets is finally to take place this week.

According to the official Syrian Arab News Agency ‘SANA', an official Syrian statement declared that Custodian of the two Holy mosques; King Abdullah Bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud of the Saudi Arabia pays an official visit to Syria this week.

The news agency gave no further elaborations; it only noted that the Saudi King will hold talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on two major topics, the bilateral relations between Syria and Saudi Arabia and the developments in the Arab and international arenas.
As the statement did not specify the precise timing of the visit, resources said that security considerations are behind this ambiguity. However, well-informed resources said the visit is expected to take placed in the coming 48 hours.

In all cases, the much-awaited "historic" visit is believed to be a part of the Arab reconciliation process that was established in the Kuwait summit. It comes also as a Saudi response to the surprising visit made by Syrian President Bachar al-Assad to Saudi Arabia on September 23.

Syrian sources also told moqawama.org this visit comes in the agenda of strengthening the Arab-Arab reconciliations, especially that Syria and Saudi Arabia enjoy each a major and influencing role in the region.
Sources concluded these visits are very normal as both countries have common interests just like any other Asian-European visits take place due to mutual interests.
