Saudi troops take position in the region of Jizan, near the border with Yemen. Houthi fighters said the Saudi air force launched more than 200 missiles on their positions in northern Yemen.

The Saudi Arabian air force yesterday attacked villages inside Yemen, according Mohammed Abdulsalam, a spokesman for al Houthi fighters, who also added that more than 200 missiles were launched by the Saudi air force on the Yemeni areas, killing and wounding dozens of civilians.

"The Saudi air force launched intense attacks on al Malahidh district, the villages around Maran, Souq al Husamah and the villages on the border," Mr Abdulsalam stressed.

The Houthis have been fighting a sporadic war against Yemen's government since the Yemen army attacked them from Jabal Dukhan in 2004.
