MP Fayyad: Lebanon on the eve of a new stage of cooperation & positivism
Local Editor, 07-11-2009
The member of Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Ali Fayyad, speaking at a memorial service in the Bekaa town of Bednayel said the Lebanese governments from now until the abolition of political sectarianism will be consensual democratic governments.
He added: "When Hizbullah affirmed through its political manifesto that consensual democracy represents the spirit of the constitution, it is because we believe it is the way to stability in the Lebanese political reality, to protect everyone and to opening a participatory reality for all in the management of the country's affairs; this is the only way."
Fayyad also said that "Hizbullah did not develop its political manifesto against a background of seeking to acquire a quality of moderation, extremism or any other quality, but in terms of the opinion that the interests of Lebanon and the Arab world lie in these theories, concepts, and political projections, in a spirit open to criticism because we are not afraid of criticism, but see it as a rich source of ideas and proposals; but we do fear arbitrary decisions and misunderstandings whether intentionally or unintentionally."
He added: "This document is not to be read discretionally and selectively, but in its complete wholeness, its presented ideas and concepts should not be selected and cut outside the contexts in which they came within the manifesto."
