Local Editor, 14-12-2009
Member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hussein Moussawi stressed that regaining the citizens' trust in government comes through offering them balanced development.
During the memorial ceremony for Yousef Allam, an economist from Baalbek city, Moussawi said "We will do everything we can every way possible to achieve balanced development, we will not accept the giving of excuses by government for its carelessness towards disadvantaged areas."
In response to the argument of 'balanced development', Moussawi said "Balanced development is measured by the size of sacrifices. Those who sacrifice more show deeper belonging to the nation and more authenticity," adding: "We call for competition to prove eligibility and actuality of belonging" to the homeland according to the size of sacrifices, let each of us present what they have offered? What sacrifices they made? Then we see who lagging in their sense of national belonging."
Moussawi asked those raising the slogan of commitment to the constitution: "Whether the weapon targeting the Lebanese is legitimate? And the one defending the whole of Lebanon is illegitimate?"
He added: "We are vigorously trying to arm the Lebanese army, and are willing accept for any side to arm the military provided it is with unconditional weapons."
