The Viva Palestine aid convoy continues its protest against the Gaza siege and the Egyptian refusal to allow the convoy entry through its territories, and have made a decision to go on a hunger strike as part of the protest.

Alice Howard, the convoy's press officer, said that the volunteers on the convoy will only take fluids until the Egyptian side allows the entry. She added that the hunger strike began at 11:25 on Sunday, which marked the first bomb "Israel" dropped on Gaza on December 27, 2008.

More than 1,400 Palestinians, and according to medical sources, more that the half of them were civilians, were killed in the three week "Israeli" aggressive offense on Gaza, between December 2008 and January 2009. In addition to all that, "Israel's" attack also led to the destruction of schools, houses, and UN bases, which caused a 1.6$ billion economy damage on Gaza.

Since Christmas Eve, the aid convoy has been sitting in Aqaba, Jordan, where Egyptian authorities did not allow entry of the convoy through its port of Nuweiba. Diplomatic negotiations are on the run between the Turkish and Egyptian governments, over the convoy's entry into Egypt.

George Galloway, a British MP on the convoy, said that "Israel" kept Gaza under siege against international law for three and a half years, and after its attack on Gaza earlier this year, "Israel" has not even allowed in aid or building materials. He declared that the convoy is determined to break the siege and deliver urgently needed supplies to Gaza. He also added that their spirit is high at their camp in Aqaba, and that they are going nowhere except to Gaza.

The third international convoy to Gaza left London on December 5, 2009. It is made up of volunteers from Britain, Ireland, Belgium and Malaysia, who paid hundred of thousands of pounds to pay for ambulances, minibuses, vans, and lorries, that are to be filled with medical and other sorts of aids that are desperately needed in Gaza.

The aim of the Viva Palestinian convoy was to direct the world to that "Israeli" war criminals have committed dreadful crimes in Gaza and to the Palestinian resistance.
