Ehud Barak: our confrontation with Hizbullah and Hamas to flare in 2010
Local Editor, 29-12-2009
Ehud Barak, the "Israeli" Defense Minister, expected yesterday that the year 2010 will the year of "Threats and Chances" for the Hebrew government, without excluding a war with Hezbollah and Hamas movement.
The "Israeli" media stated Barak saying, during the Knesset's committee of international affairs and security's meeting, that the year 2009 was one of the calmest year on all fronts, adding that the year 2010 will be the year of threats and chances. He mentioned that last year was one of calmest years passing, referring to the Lebanese war in 2006 and operation cast lead, noting the "Israeli" aggression on Gaza, declaring that "Israel" has become stronger and deterrence, yet the hypothesis under study is the possibility of a military confrontation might be in order, and ignoring the threats is not allowed.
The "Israeli" minister continued his statement, saying that Hezbollah now owns more than 40 thousand rockets, and that Hamas is now more powerful after the operation cast lead. He continued that Iran on the other hand, has rickets that could reach "Israel", and terrorist operation might occur and result in a conflict with Hezbollah or Hamas, or with the both of them. He also talked about the Iranian Nuclear file, saying that Iran would be able to develop a nuclear bomb by 2011.
