Ramadi twin blasts kill 23, injure scores
Twin bombing attacks rock Iraq's western city of Ramadi, leaving more than 23 people killed and wounding at least 30 others including the provincial governor.
A second blast followed within half an hour when another bomber, on foot this time, blew himself up at the entrance to the governorate building some 200 meters (yards) away.
The explosion struck the convoy of Governor Qassim Mohammed Abid as it was leaving. The governor reportedly escaped the deadly explosion but sustained injuries.
"The latest toll is 23 dead and 30 wounded," a doctor at Ramadi General Hospital told AFP on condition of anonymity.
Ramadi, 100 kilometers (65 miles) west of Baghdad, turned to a key militant base in the aftermath of the US-led invasion of the country in 2003.
Terrorist attacks, continue to toll despite a meaningful fall compared to last year with the December 8 bombings in Baghdad killing 127 people in a single day.
