"Israeli" agents, who were trying to collect information to know the location of Shalit, were faced by a Hamas foil of attempt.

Abu Abdallah, head of Hamas' internal security service, said Shin Bet security service tried to gather information from some agents in the rival Fatah party, noting that the Farah operatives had rented a house and cars in eastern Gaza, planning to kidnap a senior member of the Izz El-Din El-Qassam Brigade, Hamas' military wing and transfer him to the occupied territory.

Abu Abdalla added that the "Israeli" cell's scheme was foiled at the last minute, and that they had a ready plan of action which was similar to the kidnapping of Muhawesh Al-Kadi, a senior Hamas official who was kidnapped by "Israeli" forced near his home in Rafah.

The report came in the midst of negotiations between the Hamas and "Israel" over prisoner exchange. The negotiations held under German-mediation, are being delayed because "Israel" refuses to free the "heavyweight" Palestinian prisoners: Marwan Bargouti, Ahmed Sa'adat, Ibrahim Hamad, and Abdullah Barghouti, yet offers their release, if they are to be deported to the Gaza Strip or to a third country.

Last Tuesday, Hamas neglected media reports stating that it had rejected an "Israeli" prisoner exchange proposal, stressing that Hamas is still in the debate.
