Local Editor 09-04-2010 Remarking the seventh year anniversary for the US troops’ occupation of Iraq, thousands of Iraqis rallied in Najaf city, where Iraqi flags and slogans were present across the holly city, calling for the release of the Iraqi detainees in US prisons. US and Britain, led the invasion of Iraq in April 2003 with the excuse that Saddam Hussein had mass destruction weapons, and after years of occupation, these weapons failed to be found. What the Iraqis were promised of this invasion, was democracy after former Dictator Saddam Hussein’s years of brutal rule, but on the contrary, along the invasion years, bombs and casualties took place all over the country.

Since April 2003, nearly one million Iraqi civilians were shot dead or killed due to bombs, while US troops remain in Iraq, preparing to withdraw later this year as planned.
