In a joint press conference In Iran with his Iranian counterpart Manoucheher Mottaki, Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoglo said, "Turkey has always supported Iran's stance when it comes to the nuclear program", rejecting any punitive measures against Iran, adding that Iran's nuclear issue should be resolved through diplomatic ways.

Regarding this issue, Davutoglo said that all nations are entitled to peaceful nuclear energy, but there is no place for atomic weapons. As quoted he said, "Having access to nuclear energy is the right of all nations but we need to oppose atomic weapons no matter where they are in the world because they endanger the future of mankind and they would create problems".

Although is it accusing Iran of its nuclear program, the US itself is one of the biggest nuclear-armed countries, and the only country which used those weapons against other countries.
Iran is one of the first signatories of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and its nuclear program is strictly under the supervision of the UN watchdog.
